About Markit Markit@FedSquare is held twice per year in May and December at Federation Square. Markit is a curated retail shopping event featuring illustrative and decorative design products with limited edition pieces ranging from fashion to jewellery, prints, stationery, ceramics and homewares. Created by designers as a unique retail platform for independent Australian design, Markit@FedSquare provides an opportunity for the public to meet the designers and talk with them about their products. To buy or simply to admire, this is an event not to be missed.
Sunday 8th May 2016
Now in its 8th year, Markit@fedsquare is bringing together the very best in Australian independent design on Sunday 8 May! With more new talent than ever before, discover over 100 emerging and established Australian designers – over half of which are new to Markit – selling their own ranges of homewares, ceramics, jewellery, clothing, stationery, limited edition artwork and prints.
The meticulously curated lineup of designers ensures only the highest quality products are presented, with emphasis on originality and diversity. Markit nurtures design talent with it’s emerging designers program for new creatives to test the market on the same platform as established designers, ensuring a brand-new shopping experience for visitors at each event.
All stallholders at Markit use sustainable and ethical production methods, with a strong focus on products being Australian-made. Many designers hand-craft products in their studio, or produce limited runs and one-off bespoke items to create unique pieces that aren’t readily available elsewhere.
